CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers first-round pick D.J. Moore will go before a judge for excessive speeding.

  • Wide receiver D.J. was cited for speeding on I-77
  • Coach Ron Rivera says Moore was 'remorseful'
  • He has a court appearance in October

Troopers say the wide receiver was driving 113 miles per hour in a work zone on interstate 77. It happened on Aug. 10 just before 3 a.m.

"When it all happened, D.J. came to us right away, explained the situation," Head Coach Ron Rivera said Tuesday.  "He was very remorseful. He understood. We chastised him, obviously, and he's moving on."

Moore is expected to appear in court in October.
