CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- North Carolina Republicans are looking for thousands of volunteers for the Republican National Covention 2020 in Charlotte and they're not waiting to find them.
- Officials say they will need up to about 10,000 volunteers for the convention
- They say those who are interested should get involved sooner than later
- There will be more chances for people to sign up
Saturday, the North Carolina GOP, along with local politicians, held a volunteer recruitment event in Uptown.
The NCGOP says they will need between 7,000 and 10,000 volunteers to help with the convention.

Officials say if volunteers want a prime job during the convention, they need to start getting involved sooner rather than later.
"The best way that people can get the plum assignments and really get the things they want to do in the convention two years from now, is start volunteering now with our county parties, working on our Congressional campaigns, working on our other issues. The better we know people and the better they're trained, the more we can recommend them for plum positions with the host committee," says Dallas Woodhouse, the Executive Director of the North Carolina Republican Party.

The NCGOP says there will be several more chances for people to sign up to volunteer if they missed Saturday's event.
