Fans packed street tailgates and even stood shoulder to shoulder at Uptown's Brevard Court.
"Can't believe the enormous crowd that turned out for it," said Jamon Brady of Nashville.
Member of The Queen's Firm, a group of supporters who want Charlotte to get a Major League Soccer team, say they hope this event renews the city's push for MLS. And they look to the stadium's top brass to make it happen.
New Panthers owner David Tepper mentioned the sport during one of his first press conferences.
"First football game at the new stadium... I'm sure he's here, sure there's a lot of people watching," said Firm founder Dave Dowell.
Charlotte has hosted the ICC four times.
