CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A new boutique is coming to Charlotte's South End and it's one where you won't break the bank finding an outfit.

  • New boutique will be located at 3609 South Boulevard
  • This will be the second GW Boutique
  • Opens Friday

Goodwill Industries is launching its second GW Boutique Friday. The store offers affordable prices, like their regular retail space, but features color-blocking and more brand-name gear.

"What the GW does is focuses on merchandising. We colorblock so its for folks who don't want to spend as much time. They want to come in, find what they're looking for," says Tonya Nations, Goodwill Industries vice president of retail operations.

Across the country, thrifting continues to grow. According to resale website ThredUp, 1 in 3 women shopped secondhand last year.

"[It's] very popular, especially with millennials. They're very earth-conscious, so sustainability is also important to them," Nations said.

The ThredUp report also says thrifting is environmentally friendly - buying a used garment adds 2.2 years to its lifespan, reducing carbon footprint.
