CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- First responders had a busy Fourth of July responding to a number of firework related calls.
- Emergency crews responded to a number of firework-related calls Wednesday night.
- A South Carolina man's death is thought to have been firework-related.
- Officials recommend discarding of fireworks in metal containers with water.
MEDIC responded to three firework related injuries. Two of them were life threatening.
The Charlotte Fire Department said it responded to a house fire caused by discarded fireworks in a trash can.
The Huntersville Fire Department also said fireworks caused four grass fires and likely a house fire.
Fire officials say fireworks should not be put in trash cans, rather placed in metal containers with water.
In South Carolina, Cheraw Police said M.C. Gallion III was killed. While his cause of death is still under investigation police believe fireworks exploded at his upper torso area after he was holding a cylinder tube intended to discharge an aerial type firework.
