CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- American Airlines canceled more than 500 regional flights across the country due to a technical issue starting Thursday night.
The flights were serviced PSA Airlines, a regional carrier for American.
About 425 of these flights were set to be out of Charlotte.

- Normal operations began to resume at noon Friday.
Thursday night into Friday morning, hundreds of people were stranded and traffic was backed up from Charlotte Douglas International Airport all the way to Wilkinson Boulevard.
American Airlines released a statement saying, in part: "We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans, and we are sorry for the trouble this caused. Customer relations will be reaching out to all of those who have been impacted by this issue. Customers are encouraged to check their flight status on the American Airlines app or at aa.com before heading to the airport."
PSA Airlines resumed operations at noon.
