CONCORD, N.C. -- Nearly two weeks left until the pavement starts heating up at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and one family has already started camping for the 10 Days of Thunder.

A couple from Ontario, Canada, the Lapansee's, arrived at the Speedway on May 1 to set up and prepare their decorative RV for the races.

They are the first campers to arrive, but they say it's all worth it to spend time in the Charlotte area, and to show off their ride they painted themselves over the year.

“We come up early. This is our favorite track,” said fan Charlene Lapansee. “The people treat us amazing. There’s just so much to do in the area which involves NASCAR, whether it’s the museums, or the hall of fame.”

Due to their RV's age, Charlene says this will most likely be the big rig's final trip down to Charlotte.

The Lapansee's say they will be at the track until Memorial Day before trekking back to their hometown. They encourage everyone to stop by and check it out in the meantime.
