CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The first-ever Shake Shack in North Carolina is had its grand opening on Thursday.

  • It is the latest food establishment in the Park Road Shopping Center.
  • Beers from local breweries will be available as well as pie from Suarez Bakery.
  • A second location is also set to open in south Charlotte.

The location is in the Park Road Shopping Center off of East Woodlawn Road in south Charlotte. The 3,403 sq. foot location has an outdoor patio with tabletops made from bowling alley lanes.

Described as a "modern-day roadside burger stand," the restaurant has angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, frozen custard concretes, crinkle-cut fries and more.

In addition to their typical offerings, the location will have local beers from Lenny Boy Brewing Company, Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Catawba Brewing Company.

Five percent of sales from the "Pie Oh My" frozen concrete, which comes with a slice of seasonal pie from the local Suarez Bakery, will benefit the local nonprofit Loaves & Fishes.

A second location is set to open later, also in south Charlotte, in Blakeney Village.

For the grand opening, City Councilmen Tariq Bokhari and Larken Egleston were among the first customers.

The first 100 customers also received free gear from 704 Shop
