CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The search is on for a man police say stole a 24-pack of beer and then hit a father and son trying to get out of the way.

  • Man, son injured at shopping center
  • Suspect hit them in a getaway car
  • No charges filed

It happened near the Harris Teeter in the Blakeney Village Shopping Center on Wednesday afternoon. Police say once that man stole the beer, he got into a getaway car.

That car hit Nathan Green and his 4-year-old son. Green's wife says her husband suffered several skull fractures and their son had multiple cuts to his head.

"It's not OK for you to run over a parent holding a child. I mean it’s not OK to hit anyone, but let alone a parent and a child. I just don't understand what would be going through those kids' heads," wife and mother of the victims, Amber Green, said.

No arrests have been made. Green's wife especially wanted to thank the good Samaritans who rushed to help her husband and son.
