CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte man bought his dream car about a year ago and now it's destroyed.

Seth Headley says someone set his 1992 Corvette on fire Wednesday morning in west Charlotte.

"I don't have a lot of money. That's what I could afford. That's what me and my partner could afford and we went for and we were enjoying it, and someone was like, 'Ha ha you can't enjoy that,'" Headley said.

He says he woke up and saw the car completely engulfed in flames. To him, he says it was more than a car. It was a reminder of his childhood since his dad had the same make, model and year.

“My parents don’t talk to me anymore because of my life choices and that’s fine, but it reminded me of the better times,” he said.

Headley says he doesn’t know who would do this, but the whole thing was caught on camera. In the surveillance video, you can see a man walking around the Corvette and then setting it on fire.

Police are investigating this as an arson, but the video shows the car wasn’t the only target.

“It’s very suspicious. You tried to go and burn a flag with a rainbow while that says equality and that’s the one car that’s mine and partner's but I don’t know, I can’t answer that,” he said.

His Facebook post including videos and photo about the incident has been shared hundreds of times.

On Thursday, Jackson Brooks was arrested in connection to the case.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department says this incident is not a hate crime. Investigators say Brooks was targetting a woman who lived in the home. He is also connected to another car fire that happened earlier.
