FAYETTEVILLE -- It may look small in the sky, but in the hands of trained police officers in Fayetteville's new aviation unit, these drones can make a big difference when it comes to fighting crime.
The department recently launched a new, ten-person drone unit.
Officers will use the drones to search for suspects on the run, as well as missing people.
"These are giving us eyes in the sky that we didn't have before," said Sgt. Christopher Cody. "What used to happen with 20 officers, we can now do with two pilots and three or four officers."
The drones cost just over $90,000 and were completely funded with drug forfeiture money.
