LINCOLN COUNTY -- A family in Lincoln County lost just about everything after their home burned down Sunday morning.
The fire started around 5:30 a.m. After getting it under control, firefighters found the only things left untouched were the family Bibles.
Three kids ages 18 months to 5 years old were sleeping when their mother, who is 7 months pregnant, woke up when she heard crackling. She did what she could to get everyone out.
She says she grabbed all three kids and got in the car, but realized she had left her keys inside. As the fire got closer to the car, all she could do was run her family across the street and watch it burn.
When the fire department arrived, they did what they coult to try and get the flames under control. Everything was gone but two things: their two family Bibles.
The Bibles had been sitting on her nightstand before the fire. The nightstand is no longer there.
"The Bible has some water damage and some soot damage, but there is not a page in it burnt. But it just goes to show that God is so good, even when tragedy strikes. God is so good," said mother Kaylynn Blackwood.
The family is staying with in-laws for now.
The fire department says the fire started with their wood heater, the family's only heat source.
