ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Family, friends and loved ones said their final goodbyes Saturday to a teenager killed at a popular Fort Mill store.
Police say 19-year-old Karson Whitesell died Tuesday afternoon, after she was shot by Christopher Mendez at The Peach Stand.

Megan Austin and Whitney Carter were childhood friends of Whitesell, and say she was always smiling and constantly making sure everyone was in a good mood.
“[She was] free-spirited, beautiful, honest, not in a mean way, but in a beautiful way and an amazing way. She was just a terrific, funny person that loved everybody. Even if she didn’t know you, she would tell you she loved you, and cared about you, and was there for you," Carter says.
One of Whitesell's biggest passions was going on mission trips to help in Africa. In her honor, a GoFundMe page was set up, so others can donate to the charity she was once so involved with.
"Knowing that there's going to be differences made in individual's lives on her legacy, it's all for her at this point. So to know that, I think is going to be...she's feeling great up in heaven," Austin says.
