YORK, SC – One of the detectives shot in York County has died.

According to a release from York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson, Detective Michael Doty has died. He was shot in the line of duty responding to a shooting incident on South Parham Road on Tuesday.

The sheriff says he joined the department May 2006 as an investigator with the York County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit.

Funeral arrangements will be made in the coming days. The department asks the community to keep the Doty family in your thoughts and prayers.
