THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- The Davidson County Sheriff's Office has arrested a former foster parent after allegations surfaced that he sexually assaulted an 8-year-old child who was in his care.
According to a news release by DCSO, George Stephen Holtz, 72, of Thomasville, has been arrested and charged with sexual acts by a custodian and indecent liberties of a minor.
Holtz was arrested following an investigation launched by the sheriff's office after they received a report that an 8 year old had been sexually assaulted at the Dragonfly House Children's Advocacy Center in Mocksville in October.
Following a forensic interview and further investigations, it was determined that Holtz had forcibly performed sexual acts against a juvenile that he was in the care and custody of.
Holtz has been placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $750,000 secured bond.
He is expected to appear in Lexington District Court on Jan. 11, 2018.
