Two areas are being watched by the National Hurricane Center. One is east of Trinidad and the other is near the Yucatan Peninsula.

Hurricane Hunter aircraft will investigate each on Monday. If they are upgraded to named storms then Bret and Cindy will be used.

The cloud mass near Trinidad will bring heavy rain and strong winds to the southern Windward Islands Monday night and Tuesday.

The area of disturbed weather near the Yucatan Peninsula should move north to northwest over the next few days. This system may bring heavy rain and strong winds to a wide area from Cuba to Florida to Texas.

It's too soon to say if it will have a direct impact on North Carolina. But at this point it may at least increase our chance for showers and storms later Friday through the weekend. Stay tuned!
