RALEIGH -- It’s a treat grabbing a tasty lunch like a sub or salad from Jersey Mike’s Subs.  But on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 you can also help out area non-profits making a major difference in your community.

The popular chain is celebrating the 8th annual Month of Giving this March, culminating in their day of giving celebration, where 100 percent of proceeds go to organizations in their own communities, like Military Missions in Action, that rely on the money to do good work helping others.

MMIA is a Fuquay Varina based non-profit, that helps veterans, military members and their families through a number of resources like housing assistance,  disability repairs, the building of ramps, and the assembly and donation of care packages.  The majority of the money the nonprofit raises goes back to the people they serve, which is why this special day of fundraising is so important.  On Giving Day, MMIA receives 1/3 of their funding budget for the year.

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with MMIA founder Mike Dorman and Jersey Mikes franchise owner Al Hardie for a look at the special day of giving back.  To learn what restaurants are taking part and how you can help area non-profit, visit their website.  To learn more about Military Missions in Action or to donate, visit their website.
