One woman was killed in a fire Wednesday in Harrington.

Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Becky Lane, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

“When firefighters arrived they discovered a truck camper on fire and a deceased individual inside,” Moss stated.

The deceased is believed to be Carol Curtis, 40, who was living in the camper, Moss said. The land the camper was on did not belong to Curtis but she lived there with permission.

The body was transported to the chief medical examiner’s office in Augusta for an autopsy.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
