There are many different kinds of cuisine in the Hudson Valley to choose from. If you're in the mood for Thai, you may want to check out a restaurant in Beacon.
“We've been here 11 years. We started back at the beginning of the renaissance of Beacon. We saw that Beacon was growing, started rapid growth at that early stage. Took a chance and planted roots and we've been successful,” said Ray Rabenda, the co-owner.
You may be over 8,000 miles away from Southeast Asia, but it certainly won't taste like it.
“Our food is as close to authentic Thai as you can get in area. My wife uses her family recipes and tries to stay as close to that traditional Thai style and I think she meets or exceeds those expectations,” said Rabenda.
From beef to duck and everything in between, including vegetarian dishes, the menu is diverse but will have something for everyone
“If we're talking about Thai food, you're going to have to try the pad Thai because if they're pad Thai is good, everything else will be good too. Our customers eat pad Thai number one here, number two is curry. And I myself love curry,” said Chira Rabenda, the co-owner and head chef.
You won't find just authentic Thai food at the restaurant, but also a passion for food and their customers.
“Cooking is just like art. You know, you perform your art, you love what you do because I do believe if you love what you do, no matter what, it comes from your heart. We believe that whatever I like, I want to put on the table for the customer so they can feel that and eat it,” Chira said.
“Sukhotai roughly translates to land of happiness or dawn of happiness, so what we want the customer to take away when they leave is that sense of happiness, that sense of fulfillment that they got what they expected when they came,” Ray said.
