MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Looking for a taste for the world without taking a culinary road trip? Then make Saffron in Middletown one of your first destinations.

"We are offering the authenticity of India. That means all the food we make traditionally the same way with Indian flavor. I think American people like Indian food because its rich in flavor, healthy food actually. We notice lot of people coming back and that's a good sign for Indian restaurants in the future," said Jose Kochuveetil, the co-owner.

Many people are afraid to try new things, especially when it comes to food and spices, but at Saffron they can find something to fit your palette.

"Don't fear to eat the Indian food. The misconception is that people think it is very spicy, in fact it's not spicy because we make the food custom made. If you want spicy, mild, or medium -- it's whatever you choose," said Kochuveetil.

The menu is extensive and has something for both the meat lover and the vegetarian.

"I like to cook very much, especially shrimp, chicken, lamb, goat. We are serving both South Indian and North Indian dishes," said Mahesh Parap, the chef.

Whether stopping for dinner or the lunch buffet, not only will you try something new, but it's an experience you won't soon forget.

"Come and try one day, you will never forget it," said Kochuveetil.
