WORCESTER, Mass. - The City of Worcester is currently reviewing 85 applications received from residents for Spring Beautification Grants.
The grants will be awarded by each district city councilor up to $5,000. Projects can include playground upgrades, Earth Day cleanups, transforming traffic islands, and creating new gardens.
Applications are being reviewed and are scored based on the following criteria:
- having enough volunteers and good communication within the neighborhood to make the event successful
- demonstration that the neighborhood is committed and motivated
- the project enhances and improves the quality of life for residents who live in, work in, or visit the community
The grant money can be used for refreshments, landscape materials, plants, tools, supplies and more.
