Girls Inc. of Worcester celebrates the completion of a $5 million capital campaign renovation.
On Tuesday, they held the Grand Opening of their new Saint-Gobain Technology Center.
It will provide hands on, technology-based training and enrichment for girls in the Greater Worcester area.
CEO Victoria Waterman says they did a survey earlier this year and found 25% of Worcester Public School students do not have access to computers and internet access and this center will help.
"Girls Inc. is combating that by providing a space with full internet access, Chromebooks, laptops, everything girls need to be successful so when they come here they have access to their homework, school work, and learning like every other student," said Waterman.
"I was impressed by the commitment and level of work and achievement this organization has done for the city and country so for us it’s a pleasure to be a part of this," said Manuel Correa, the vice president of Saint-Gobain Abrasives North America.
The five-year capital renovation included a pool renovation, new roof, and upgrades to the cooling and heating system.
