WORCESTER - New data from the Anti-Defamation League [ADL] shows antisemitic incidents in the Bay State were historically high in 2019, with 114 total recorded incidents.

This number is 128% higher than the total for 2015.

Across the United States, ADL recorded more than 2,100 acts of antisemitic hate -- the highest number since tracking began in 1979.

"While this, of course, affects the Jewish Community, all of us should take note a note of it because it's in many ways the canary in the coal mine," said Steven Schimmel, Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts. "An indication that something is very, very wrong and needs to be addressed across the board. This wasn't only Massachusetts or the Northeast this was nationwide."

Massachusetts recorded the fourth highest number of incidents per state -- topped only by New York, New Jersey and California.
