AUSTIN, Texas -- Apparently a scythe is an approved method of cutting into an Arby's sandwich.

The fast food chain, which makes many posts on its Facebook page combining its products with various references to gamer and pop culture, turned its attention Saturday to Austin-based Rooster Teeth and its animated series "RWBY."

"RWBY" follows the adventures of four girls who are training to become Huntresses against various monsters. The new season was due to premiere online Saturday morning.

Demand to watch the first new episode was great enough to cause a site crash for some users, and the release of the first new episode was moved to an afternoon slot.

Arby's marked the occasion with a picture depicting a Crescent Rose, one of the main characters' weapons of choice, cut with precision out of a cardboard sandwich container.

The tip of the "blade" is dug firmly into a sandwich.

"It's also a gun," the chain is quick to point out about the mythical weapon.

Fans of both the food purveyor and the animated series were also quick to note their approval.

"Out of all your amazing and awesome nerd ads, this is my favorite by far," wrote Tyler Friesen on the Arby's Facebook post.

"Justice will be swift! Justice will be painful! It will be... DELICIOUS," wrote another fan, Hollyann Williams.

Even Rooster Teeth seemed to be pleasantly surprised by the nod to their program.

"Hey @arbys - this is awesome," they tweeted.

Not to be outdone, the RT crew issued a reply of their own:
