DURHAM- Saturday night's audience at the DPAC witnessed a special moment for two members of our TWC News family during Theatre in the Park's presentation of "A Christmas Carol."

Reporter Carly Swanson was brought on stage Saturday night as part of "a very special giveaway" and a large gift box was wheeled to the middle of the stage.

When the box was opened, TWC News photojournalist Mark Olexik came out and asked a very surprised Carly to marry him.

"You might be wondering why you're standing here in front of friends, family and about 2,700 strangers," Mark said. "Carly, I've been doing this show for the last seven years, " he continued," and every time I've done it, I've found at least one reason to love it more. It's a story about forgiveness, redemption and love. And it's about having a really good sense of humor. I see all of these things in you. And I cannot imagine my life without them, and I cannot imagine my life without you. You've already been a part of my Christmas past, my Christmas present, and hopefully you'll  be with me for as many Christmas futures as our precious time on this planet will allow. "

As the audience cheered, Mark got down on one knee and proposed.
