ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident where a 9-year-old girl accidentally sustained a gunshot wound.
The girl is expected to recover.
According to authorities, deputies responded to Arnold Palmer Hospital just after midnight on Friday to reports of the shooting. Officials said the incident happened at a home in the 1800 block of Powers Drive, where the child gained access to an unsecured firearm and was accidentally shot.
Authorities said a family member drove the child to the hospital.
Officials have not released any further information.
An investigation is ongoing.
