Niki Griswold graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University in June 2018 and two weeks later joined the Spectrum News 1 Texas team as an Associate Producer.
After nearly a year of covering the news from the control room, Niki spent two years in the field as a Multimedia Journalist, reporting on everything from local politics, to education issues, to the battle against rapid gentrification. She describes the highlight of her job being the opportunity to connect with all the diverse communities in Austin, and inspire empathy through storytelling.
In 2021, she transitioned into her current role as a Political Reporter for Spectrum News’ Capital Tonight, covering Texas’ 87th Legislative Session and the subsequent special sessions. She’s especially passionate about breaking down complex policy issues and sharing stories of how they impact Texans’ every day lives.
Niki is a passionate traveler with dreams of some day being fluent in multiple languages. On her days off, you can find her paddleboarding on Lady Bird Lake, or going for a swim in one of Texas’ stunning swimming holes.
