TEXAS — A fire that broke out in Medina County Friday afternoon is now 60% contained as of Sunday, according to the Baytown Fire Department.

Officials said the incident stemmed from a vehicle fire that spread onto brush, causing a wildfire. On Friday, local fire departments received some extra aid around 5 p.m. from the Texas A&M Forest Service to help extinguish what many are calling the "Das Goat Fire."

On Saturday, evacuation orders were issued for all residents north and northeast of the fire. Around 4 p.m. officials warned anyone west of the Medina River, south of FM1283 and east of County Road 271, towards County Roads 2615, 2651 and 2652, to evacuate.

Evacuated residents were instructed to seek more information at the fire station on FM 1957 and find shelter at Loma Alta Middle School, 266 County Road 381 South, San Antonio.

The Texas A&M Forest Service reported a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in place for the area of the "Das Goat fire."

A Red Flag Warning was issued Saturday and Sunday, making it more difficult to stop the fire spread due to low humidity and dry conditions.

This is a developing story.
