At 5:34 p.m. Tuesday, Leon Creek at I-35 crested at 25.79 feet, which is the 4th highest it's ever been.

The National Weather Service called this disastrous flooding. NWS officials say this flooding caused evacuations for the lowest homes near the New Laredo Highway for numerous people.

It also put nearly seven feet of flow in buildings in the jet engine test facility at Kelly USA.

The major flooding shut down part of I-35 on the southwest side of San Antonio for several hours. The water severely flooded secondary and primary roads and bridges, and it was dangerous to drive above Highway 90 to below I-35.

The record highest crest for Leon Creek at I-35 is 29.31 feet, set on October 18, 1998. The second and third highest is 27.62 feet on May 25, 2013, and 27.20 feet on July 2, 2002.

There are more chances for additional rain over the next seven days. Never drive across a flooded road. Turn around, don't drown!
