Spring weather continues in the week ahead for South Central Texas. Temperatures will trend near normal but a rather rainy pattern is settling in; this will bring several rounds of showers and thunderstorms to the region.

A persistent and deep low pressure swirl is moving across southern California and will stall over northwest Mexico early in the week. This will bring a southwesterly wind aloft across Texas which produces significant lift to produce rain showers.

As a series of upper impulses pass overhead, rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely starting Tuesday evening. Heavy rains are possible Wednesday along with a few severe storms. The highest severe risk and heaviest rains will center near the Waco area, but one-half to one inch of rain is likely for most of the San Antonio area with a few spots seeing more. The local threat of severe storms is low.

It’s possible rain impulses might continue through Thursday and Friday. More details are in the Seven Day Forecast.
