NORTH CAROLINA -- The day after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest of the year for plumbers.

"The food that they cook during the holidays usually has a lot more grease in it," Roto-Rooter Excavation manager John Evans said. "And it just kind of builds up in there."

Evans says liquid fat in your drain will harden and clog your drain. That can then cause overflows in your home, backing up everything.

"We've had a couple of those today," Evans said.

As of noon, Evans says they received about 30 calls for plumbing service around Raleigh.

"It'll go non-stop, all day long," Evans said. "As people ramp up the clean-up and the clean-up from yesterday, they're putting even more stuff down the drain than they were yesterday. It's going to ramp up until probably about 10 p.m. tonight."

Evans also says having family members over to your home for the holiday increases the chances of something being poured down the drain that shouldn't be.
