SAN ANTONIO — The famous Fiesta posters are filling San Antonio, and one in particular is benefiting a community closet geared at dressing people for their next big success in life.

The closet is funded by the donations collected from the Viva Fiesta poster designed by the local organization San Antonio for Growth on the East Side, or SAGE.

“Oh, and it’s brand new, too. This is so cute, I think this is one of them that I’m going to have to take,” said Christina Morales as she thumbed through the hangars of clothes.

Christina Morales was shopping at the community closet in the Alamo Colleges District building where she attends school to become a medical assistant. She’s studying long hours and tending to her eight children these days.

“With having a lot of children, there’s a lot of things that you can’t provide as much as you want to. And with things like this, this is one less thing that I have to get out of the way, you know?” said Morales.

Morales never thought she’d be in school. She escaped a physically abusive relationship. After years of pain, she finally left.

“I think it was when my daughter started noticing that things were getting bad. But, um…after that, you know, I made it a thing for her to know, to know that there’s better out there for you,” said Morales.
