Boerne, Texas — In Texas we can check off the boxes to many fall activities like going to a pumpkin patch, watching football, and wearing flannel.

But one fall activity we can’t do in Texas just yet is leaf peeping, which involves visiting wooded areas in autumn to view the changing colors of the foliage.

But leaf peeping is worth the wait for one Hill Country photographer. Samuel Beaver is a ranch and real estate photographer.

"In my spare time I love to capture nature,” said Beaver. “The beautiful Texas Hill Country is my favorite part of this area."

He’s just 21 years old, loves weather and loves Texas.

"I'm fifth generation to live in Kerrville, Texas, in the heart of the Texas Hill Country,” said Beaver.

Before the colors peak in Texas, Beaver takes his adventure 30 miles down the road to Boerne.

"Walking up to this spot, this is perfect spot right here," says Beaver as he sets up for the first shot.

"When I edit them I'll change the colors just a little bit to give it that perfect touch," said Beaver.

For now, his fall photos need that something special to stand out.

"Right now is a really tough time to find the best fall colors,” said Beaver. “It's been so hot and still summer like.”

“So I'm a little envious at the moment. The whole United States is getting beautiful fall colors and we're still not at the peak time to see fall colors,” said Beaver. “But I know that in a few weeks those beautiful colors are going to finally come to Texas Hill Country."

So until then, he's exploring new towns and using all the tools he's got.

"While I'm waiting on fall colors it's hard to get creative so what I do is I send my drone up," said Beaver.

Using a drone is a different way for Beaver to capture these new sights.

Though it takes some extra work, colorful Hill Country scenes from last year are the reason he keeps taking pictures, even if he does have to wait a little longer in Texas.
