NATIONWIDE— The additional $600 per week in unemployment benefits that some Americans are receiving during the pandemic is ending soon.
The money is part of the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation Program, an extension of the CARES Act. The program payments will end on July 25.
This expiration date was set by federal law, and cannot be appealed or waived by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
If you're eligible for benefits and requested payment for the weeks of July 18 and July 25, you'll get the additional $600 for both weeks. But If you request payment for the weeks of July 25 and August 1, you will receive $600 for the week of July 25 only.
TWC has resources for business owners and people looking for work. The Texas Return to Work Initiative is an online resource guide to help people get back to work quickly and safely. Resources range from legal help, to mental health and childcare. You can find more information here.
