  • Went viral for promoting mixtape during perp walk
  • Shooting is under investigation

San Antonio police say 26-year-old Savawn Kyle was killed during the shooting that happened shortly before noon at The RIM Shopping Center on the city's North Side.

Known as MG Vahn, the San Antonio man first made headlines two years when he was arrested for the murder of 29-year-old Renard Smith. During his perp walk, he told us, "Ya'll need to go get that mixtape." Those charges were later dropped

Public records show Kyle has a criminal history dating back to 2010. Charges over the years include possession of drugs, firearm offenses and assault.

SAPD investigators tell us a dark sedan, with two or three suspects rolled up next to the car and opened fire. Kyle was shot in the driver's seat. His eight-year-old son was in the car, but was not injured.

As of right now, a motive is unclear, and no one has been arrested, according to police.
