SAN ANTONIO -- If you don’t have a ticket to Friday’s Crush Game between rivals Brandeis High School and O’Connor High School, there’s still hope. But it comes at a price.

  • Northside ISD began selling tickets online
  • Sellers on OfferUp tripling the original price
  • Ongoing rivarly between the schools

Northside ISD began selling tickets online this season for the first time. Ticket prices are $4 for students, $7 for general admission, and $8 for a reserved seat. The game sold out on Monday, just hours after the tickets went on sale at midnight.

On Tuesday, one seller on the app OfferUp listed six reserved seats for $25 each.

Despite growing up with the rivalry, current players are meeting on the field for only the second time. The Crush Game returned last year after a three-year hiatus.

“Growing up, I went to an elementary school that was half Brandeis, half O’Connor, so it’s always been split like that and there’s always been tension,” said Jack Jennings, an O’Connor senior. “It’s just as intense as when we were fifth-graders.”

“It’s a rivalry I grew up with from my brother, when he was in high school, it was a big rivalry,” said Alec Martinez, a Brandeis senior.

Last season, O'Connor narrowly snuck out a win, ending a rain-soaked night with a 30-28 victory. The Panthers are prepared for the broncos to return with a chip on their shoulder, and the stakes are high for both teams.

The top spot is on the line for District 28-6A. O'Connor fell to Steele in week one, but hasn’t lost since and Brandeis is looking to stay undefeated.
