SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio police are investigating human remains found by land surveyors on the city's Northwest Side.

  • Remains found on Northwest Side
  • Located next to UTSA main campus
  • Bones and skull wrapped in clothes

The remains were found off of 1604 on Babcock Road and next to the UTSA main campus.

Police say it's not uncommon for surveyors to discover something like this. Bones, including a skull, were wrapped in clothes and sneakers, according to police. They also said a cell phone was recovered. Police say because there was no skin left, the body most likely had been there for more than six months to a year.

It's cases like this that brings out one man in particular. Frank Trevino is retired but said he helps people on Facebook with missing persons cases.

Trevino is concerned and wants answers.

"I help a lot of missing persons cases around town with a lot of families. So I am always concerned and hopefully this is closure for one family somewhere. Hopefully it's one of the families I'm helping with,” said Trevino.

Police still have not identified the person. The investigation is on-going.
