Input gathered from the survey and meetings will be provided to council members ahead of their vote on final changes to the ordinance on October 3.

New changes include naming the ordinance “Sick and Safe Leave,” establishing a baseline amount of earned hours to 56 hours for a year of employment, create a “one-size-fits-all” ordinance regardless of company size and implementing the ordinance immediately to all employers, of all sizes, December 1.

In November, city and business lawyers will be back in court to discuss changes. If business lawyers are satisfied with the ordinance changes, then the proposed December 1 target date will be met. If not, lawyers representing companies of all sizes will likely file a suit against the city.
