SAN ANTONIO – Dozens of mourners gathered off of West Specht Road Sunday evening at a memorial near the place where Andreen McDonald's body was discovered late Thursday.

  • Andreen McDonald’s remains found Thursday
  • Missing since March 1
  • Husband charged with murder

The family of Andreen McDonald told a crowd of nearly 50 people that their support has been tremendous.

Many people brought flowers, balloons and pictures of Andreen McDonald to put alongside a cross that now stands in honor of her memory.

Saturday, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office arrested Andre McDonald, the husband of Andreen McDonald. Deputies say he killed her, then dumped her remains in a field in far north Bexar County.

Andreen McDonald's cousin says the family is pleased to know an arrest has been made and they hope justice is served.

"Any ounce of understanding for Andy (Andre) in the beginning is gone," said Cheryl Spencer. "You don't have the right to do this to any human being. Andreen was far from perfect, she had her flaws, but you don't have to do this to anybody’s child."

The family says now they are discussing whether or not to fly the remains of Andreen McDonald to Jamaica where she grew up while the judicial system plays out in this murder case.
