"Building The City You Deserve" is the campaign message the incumbent promised voters for his second term in office.

"Our campaign is about our vision for San Antonio, the improvements for transportation that we need to make and the investments that we've already made in basic infrastructure," Nirenberg said.

Property tax relief and quality of life are at the top of his list for his next term.

The city has added over 40,000 jobs in the past two years under Nirenberg, dropping city’s unemployment rate below the Texas and national averages.

As for what issues he wants to continue building on, Nirenberg said he wants to focus on improving the local economy and public safety.

"The stats don't lie, and the truth of the matter is when I took over as mayor, our crime rate had spiked to a 25-year high. In two years, it's now at a 30-year low," he said.

Nirenberg was first elected in 2017 after defeating incumbent mayor Ivy Taylor in a runoff election.
