Polls close at 7 p.m. in the decision to pick a mayor along with District 2, 4 and 6 council members.

Voter turnout for the 2019 municipal election is roughly similar to the turnout in 2017, according to the Bexar County Elections Department.

Voting numbers were up for the mayor's race, however, it once again ended in a runoff between the candidates. Incumbent Mayor Ron Nirenberg claimed 48.66 percent of the vote Saturday night. Challenger Greg Brockhouse trailed right behind him at 45.57 percent.

"The truth of the matter is the difference is going to be clear. We have a firm record of achievement over the last two years, and we have a clear and articulate a vision for the future," Nirenberg said ahead of runoff elections.

Mayor Nirenberg's percentage is up from the 2017 General Election. During that race against incumbent Mayor Ivy Taylor, he only collected 37.08 percent of the vote. The incumbent gained 42.01 percent.

"I don't have to tear somebody down to become the mayor of San Antonio. I think people should really take note of that," Brockhouse noted heading into runoff elections.
