SAN ANTONIO โ Most couples use their wedding registry to get gifts to help them start a new life, but for one San Antonio couple, their registry was a chance to give gifts to help others.
- UTSA alumni giving back for wedding
- Raised $3,100 for first-generation students
- Ceremony officiated by interim dean
Andrew Hubbard and Carla Juarez met at University of Texas at San Antonio in 2016, according to UTSA Today. Hubbard was a transfer student, and Juarez was a first-generation college student.
When the alumni decided to get married, they both knew they didn't want a traditional registry. So instead, they chose to raise money for a cause close to both of their hearts.
Together they are raising funds to help first generation and transfer students at UTSA. So far, they have raised more than $3,100 dollars for the UTSA First Gen and Transfer Student Center surpassing their goal of $2,500.
The registry wasn't the only UTSA connection during their wedding. Their ceremony this past weekend was officiated by the interim Dean Rhonda M. Gonzales.
The project has 10 days left.
