Spectrum News reporter Sarah Duran was live on scene with a member of the San Antonio Fire Department to retrieve more information.

According to Walter Yates with SAFD, firefighters responded to the fire in the 2500 block of Suzette Avenue.

Firefighters realized the home was split into two apartments in the back and a townhome in the front, making it difficult to attack the fire.

The fire started in the wall of one the apartments and spread into the attic.

Three families were displaced, a total of seven people. A dog, eight puppies and one cat were rescued.

Red Cross was contacted to assist the families.

SAFD is unsure of the amount of damage at this time.
