SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio teen is still pinching himself days after he was picked out from a crowd of thousands to sing along with his favorite musical artist, Michael Bublé.

  • Teens sings with Michael Bublé
  • Held sign that said “Let me sing with you!”
  • Bublé asks fan for duet each concert

Diego San Martino bought his standing room only ticket months ago in hopes of getting an up close spot during the March 27 concert at the AT&T Center. Little did he know, it would pay off in a big way.

"A couple hours before [the concert], me and my mom sat down on the carpet and wrote this sign," said San Martino.

His sign read, “Let me sing with you!” in big black letters.

"[Michael Buble] turned around and saw my sign. He then came up to me and he asked me what I wanted to sing," San Martino said.

During every Michael Bublé concert, the singer invites one lucky fan to duet with him during a part of the show dubbed "Shower Song." San Martino's shower song is 1960s hit "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" by Dean Martin.

"It was just a moment of what just happened," San Martino said.

The teen said he doesn't remember much after Bublé handed him the microphone, but has cell phone video of the moment. In it, San Martino can be seen serenading the crowd of thousands for one minute. Bublé is in the background sitting and clapping to San Martino's song choice.

"Like [San Martino}, I thought it was just a dream," said Veronica Martinez, Diego's mom.

San Martino purposely attended the concert alone. His mom found out after friends started blowing up her phone with videos and text messages.

"I can't stop watching it," said Martinez.

Days after experiencing the once of a lifetime duet, San Martino said he is inspired more than ever to pursue singing professionally.

"I just want to get out there more. Whether that's singing at restaurants or at bars or wherever," San Martino said.

San Martino is already on his way. He performs as a lead singer for local Jazz group, Bethoven Big Band, and plans to study music in college. For now, he is in a daze while reliving the moment he was up close with his idol.

"I'd say thank you! Thank you so much. That was a good opportunity [Michael Buble] and I look forward to singing with you again," San Martino said.
