SAN ANTONIO – A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting on the Northwest Side overnight on Monday in San Antonio.

Around 2:49 a.m. the parents of a man called police to say their son was throwing things around their house on Springdale Drive.

Arriving officers found a man in the back bedroom. The man allegedly fired a shotgun at the officer, but did not hit him.

The officer reportedly returned fire and hit the man multiple times.

The man was taken to the University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. On Tuesday, the deceased was identified as 27-year-old Daniel Moncada. 

The officer is a veteran member of the department.
