SAN ANTONIO — A new era begins this weekend as the San Antonio Commanders take the field for the first time.

  • Podcast started last fall
  • Commanders inaugural game Saturday
  • Playing against San Diego Fleet

The new professional football team will make its debut in the inaugural season of the Alliance of American Football at home against the San Diego Fleet.

But despite not playing a down of football yet, the Commanders already have a growing fan base and a podcast dedicated to covering the team.

The Command Post podcast launched last fall and it aims to inform and entertain fans.

Hosted by Phillip Higginbotham, RC Woods and Leo Llamas, the podcast combines in-depth football analysis with feature segments.

“Once we started doing the podcast, it was really obvious that Leo and Phil are super into football and I’m not and I didn’t want to fake it,” Woods said. “But one thing I’m really good at is being a cheerleader, and I’m a really good mom. And I’m a true believer in second chances, and making dreams come true and to me that’s what the AAF really represented.”

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Alamodome.
