  • Mayor Tim Kelley named Lt. Brian Jackson as interim police chief

During Tuesday’s closed executive session, the Castroville City Council addressed the possibility of firing Castroville Police Chief, Chris Filline.

After the session, Mayor Tim Kelley said the council opted to take no action on the item at the current time. He read a statement from the city, explaining that criminal charges against Filline may be brought before a Bexar County grand jury.

"As a result of this information, the city manager and I have directed an internal investigation be initiated,” Kelley said. “Upon conclusion of that investigation, if the findings so warrant, the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken."

Kelley named Police Lt. Brian Jackson as interim police chief.

Open records requests filed by Spectrum News, regarding why Filline is under investigation, have not been released by the city.

We will continue to cover Filline's status as police chief as the story unfolds.
