AUSTIN, Texas -- In the aftermath of the tragic school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas, lawmakers have vowed to increase school safety.

At the direction of the Governor, members have been meeting in the interim to come up with recommendations. Many of those have centered on increasing mental health resources and better securing campuses.

Another recommendation being pushed -- increasing the number of school marshals on campuses. Those are designated teachers, administrators and staff who are licensed to carry firearms in case of an active shooter.
