GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- The National Retail Federation expected 75 million people to take advantage of Cyber Monday deals.

  • The preference of online shopping changed the way retailers approach the cyber deals.
  • The NRF projected 164 million people will shop over the five-day Thanksgiving weekend.
  • The trade group said it expects holiday shopping to increase by four percent from 2017.

"It's so busy, it takes so long to get anywhere. It's just easier to get everything online and have it delivered," shopper Savannah Mackie said.

The preference of online shopping changed the way retailers approach the cyber deals.

"It's really gotten away from the one day and is more like Cyber Weeks. You're seeing different discounts for us. Shipping discounts stretched over more or less a two week period," Lisa Conklin with Replacements, Ltd. said.

One shopper said retailers had no choice but to extend the sales.

"I think they're making it longer because of the competitiveness. With Amazon, Walmart, and all the different competitors, you have to extend it more than a day for you to make the money," shopper Regina Keranen said.
