HONDO, Texas – Due to a gas leak in the general vicinity of Meyer Elementary School, N.E. Woolls Intermediate School, and McDownell Middle School, Hondo ISD closed all campuses except for Hondo High School.

Buses ran and parents were asked to pick up their children.
According to Superintendent A'Lann Truelock, work was being done on a pipe near campus. The district received word of the gas leak around 9 a.m.
Truelock felt it was too dangerous and decided to evacuate all three campuses and send students home.
The campuses were cleared in an hour and no injuries were reported.
There is no update on the gas leak.
